I am not normally a fan of the Blizzard of the Month nor do I normally run to Dairy Queen to try it right away. When I visit Dairy Queen, a Blizzard is not on the top of my ordering list. I prefer a Swirl Cone or a Swirl Cup with Hot Fudge and Peanut Butter. I occasionally go outside of the box and order a Cookie Jar Blizzard with Swirl Ice Cream and Hot Fudge/Peanut Butter. I love peanut butter in my ice cream and can’t resist some good hot fudge. I wasn’t excited when the Nutter Butter Blizzard came out but rather when I read some reviews for it. The reviews explained this Blizzard to be full of Nutter Butters and Peanut Butter Crème Filling. And, as I said, I love peanut butter in my ice cream.

Visiting the Dairy Queen in Downtown Naples is a tradition for all Naples Residents. We frequent this Dairy Queen after visits to the beach for sunset and I’ve never had a bad experience with it. For my Nutter Butter Blizzard Trial, we went to Dairy Queen at about 9:00pm on a Saturday Night. I ordered a small Nutter Butter Blizzard with Swirl Ice Cream and added Oreos and Hot Fudge. Yes, I know you shouldn’t add extra items when reviewing an item but, I wanted to order it in a way that I normally would. Honestly, I don’t think it would have made any difference one way or the other. Sorry that my photo is so poor…I forgot to bring my regular camera and had to take it with my phone…at 9:00pm.



My Blizzard arrived quickly and did not look as if it had as many ‘chunks’ on first look. I dug in and waited to taste the mixture of swirl ice cream, Nutter Butter Cookies, Oreo Cookies, Peanut Butter Crème Filling and Hot Fudge. Somehow, I really didn’t get any of these flavors. Normally a Blizzard has large chunks of your filling but this Blizzard was missing all of that. I think I had one chunk of Nutter Butter and one chunk of Oreo in the entire Blizzard.

I was also very disappointed with the flavor of this Blizzard. I did not taste any Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter Crème, Nutter Butters or Oreos. It was kinda like they forgot to add everything. I have never had problems with this Dairy Queen which is why this was so disappointing. Perhaps it was just the staff working that night but, I felt leaving like I just wasted calories on a flavorless treat. Overall Rating: 3/10.

Due to my bad experience with this Blizzard, I do not recommend ordering the Nutter Butter Blizzard and I will certainly not be ordering it again. I’m sure it was just a one-time bad experience but, since these aren’t the cheapest thing on the menu & require a lot of my calories, I think I will just order one of my usual’s next time. Very sad.
