Just Do It
I consider myself to be a pretty healthy person. I workout between 2 and 3 times per day, stand all day and eat healthy. My biggest vice, is Diet Coke. I just love the stuff. Can’t get enough of it. Need to have it on a nearly daily basis. Yes, I know that I shouldn’t be drinking it yet, I am so driven to it. Most of the time, my favorite place to get it is the 7-11 near my work. Besides the fact that it is always delicious, the employees are super nice and a 44 oz refill is only $1.15. Since I go in far too often, I acquired a BOGO for the 7-11 Brand chips a few months back. While my purchase normally only consists of Diet Coke, I had the coupon so, I figured, Just Do It.
I opted for a bag of BBQ and Salt & Pepper chips. Let’s start here. I love Salt & Pepper chips. They may be my favorite variety ever. But, they are hard to perfect. To me, Dirty Potato Chips makes by far, the best. I was looking forward to seeing what 7-11 could do with the chip. On first look, they appeared to have ample amounts of salt and pepper. As I began to eat the chips, I found the flavor to be far too salty and the pepper was really riding in the back seat. Also, the chips were not nearly crispy enough. These were Kettle Style but, I would say they were only 1 notch above normal chips. I did not care for the crispness of the chips at all.
Besides the crispy issue, there was the taste issue. This chip tasted purely of salt. The lack of pepper flavor was so apparent that I inspected a few of the chips to be sure I saw something resembling pepper. While I did indeed see this, there was simply no taste. This may have been due to the fact that the flavor of salt was entirely overbearing. My mouth felt as if it was taking a ride on a Salt-Coaster and I did not like this at all. I ended up eating maybe 4 of these chips and that was enough. I will never be trying these things again.
Now, on the bright side, the bbq chips were awesome. Like awesome enough that I would go out of my way to stop at a 7-11 and get these chips if I wanted bbq chips. Every chip was cooked perfectly and hit the nail on the head as far as kettle goes. The chips were crispy and the crunch was divine. And the flavor you ask? Spot on. Every chip had that right bbq taste that you come to expect from bbq chips. I loved all of these (I maybe had 10 total) and could eat them time and time again. Delicious.
So I guess since I got these chips for BOGO, I really only had a 50% chance of liking them. And, lucky for me, I liked the bbq chips. Stay away from the Salt & Pepper unless you want uncrunchy salt in your mouth. But, I would def try the bbq chips – sweet & smoky mixed with crispy & crunchy equal mmm mmm mmm. I don’t think I will be stopping my visits to 7-11 any time soon. My love for Diet Coke is simply too much. I will indeed use a BOGO coupon on these suckers again but, I will go for 2 bbq next time. And, since I go out of my way to stop for that Super Big Gulp, when its chip time, I might as well Just Do It.
